I have a love/hate relationship with Essie Tarte Deco. I see it on other people and it’s such a lovely orange creamsicle shade. Then I put it on and it feels sort of wimpy.
Either way, I pimped it up recently with a pink side stripe. I liked it for about an hour and then it annoyed me.
Love or hate?

Chop chop: before and after hair-do
So, I survived my first Toronto haircut.
I’ve been having my hair cut by the same person for almost 6 years. She has even become one of my bestest friends. So, imagine my horror when my mullet became no longer tolerable and Ingrid was 700 kilometres away. Gasp! I’ve been (sort of) trying to grow my hair out to something that looks like this.
Or maybe this.
Either way, you see what I’m getting at.
A co-worker (with lovely hair) suggest John Steinberg. It’s two blocks from where I work, so I gave it a shot. As if I know my ass from my elbow when it comes to getting your hair cut in Toronto.
Well, I sort of do. But my beauty blogger friends go to very expeezy stylists.
Behold the before and after.
The after photo needs a bit of messing up and bad-assery. It’s very clean and swishy right now. I’m sure if I go outside and roll around on the sidewalk it will look more textured.
What do you think?

I had a hankering for a real pastel pink and can you believe there is not one in my collection? Me either.
Enter Nicole by OPI Up and Kim-ing Pink. I love it. I just can’t stop loving it. It will be part of the regular circulation for sure.
Oh, and I mixed up my signature dot design. What do you think?

Lipstick of the day
Oh, hi fancy readers.
Remember when I used to blog at a rate that could be determined as frequent? Yah, me too.
Then there was the renting of a truck, and the filling of the truck with everything I own, and the driving of the truck to my new home with my BF in Ontario, and the emptying of the truck, and the starting of a new job and the purchasing of a new car and the emptying of the boxes on all the weekends and the trying to find the box with my favourite coffee mug.
And amongst all that, there were THREE WHOLE DAYS without polish. Oh, the horror. You can only imagine how busy I was.
However, one must always make time for pretty. Including this lipstick of the day. Which is actually a lip balm and a gloss.
Remember those glass jars of lip balm from The Body Shop circa 1993? When they came out with these tube versions of Born Lippy, the only question I had was “which flavour will I get?” Pomegranate won both for scent and the smidge of orange it left behind.
I was in the mood for more pizazz so I amped up the shimmer effect with a gloss from a new line of preofessional makeup from Trade Secrets called Deca. This one here is called Diamond Pink.

From left to right, Born Lippy in Pomegranate, Deca lip gloss in Diamond Pink.
Ta dah! Minimal makeup and a soft orange lip. Love it.

This photo cannot even capture the sparkliness that was this manicure. And it last for all weekend without chips. Thanks to the 78 coats of polish I put on. Okay. Maybe just four. But whatever.

New favourite product: Smith Farms lip tint
It seems like common sense. You put crappy stuff into your body, you feel crappy. You put natural stuff into your body, you don’t feel crappy. I’ve discovered that the same is true of skincare. My array of all-natural products usually do the best job. Including my new favourite lip balm, Smith Farms Lip Tint.
It’s full of naturally moisturizing goodies like shea butter, coconut oil and cocoa butter. It smells orange-y, stays on a long time and leaves just a smidge of a rosy tint on your lips. It’s not made by my Smith family ancestors or anything, but it is made by a sister team from my hometown here in Quebec, so that is pretty damn close.

I’m convinced that Essie Turquoise & Caicos is one of their bestsellers because everyone who owns it loves it. This is what my unscientific research shows, anyway.
I bedazzled it up with a coat of Space Girl from Essence, a tiny pink glitter that adds just a smidge of fun times.
