I have more purple polishes than I do any other polish colour. I don’t remember the official count, but I’m pretty sure it’s over 20. But that didn’t stop me from buying Essie’s Play Date. Because I don’t have a purple like THIS.

This plaid-inspired nail art is very easy. Get yourself a polish with a striper brush, I like these Color Club ones, and just flick the polish onto your nail in whatever consistency you like. A lot of polish will give you a very thick line. A little polish will look like the photo below. Ta dah! You can do nail art now.

I don’t even have anything to say about these Joe’s Jeans shorts. Except when I saw them on the Lola & Emily blog I screamed out loud. At my new job.

I’ll be near Montreal over the long weekend and I need a dress for a wedding so maybe I’ll stop by Lola & Emily because these blog posts are making me more jealz by the minute. YOU HEAR ME MARNIE? I’M COMING TO THE STORE, OKAY?

Etsy bling: monogrammed ring

I’ve recently been obsessed with the stackable rings from Pandora.

I really love the idea of being able to build a totally unique design that no one else will have. When I was still living in Montreal, I would go to the Pandora store on my lunch hour and try a bunch on. Except they were all attached to stretchy strings which is code for “these are expeezy so we have to tie them down so loonies like you won’t walk out with them.” I get it, Pandora store, IF THAT IS EVEN YOUR REAL NAME.

So I took to Etsy to make my own creation. For the price of one of the Pandora rings, I bought seven individual rings from various jewelry makers on Etsy.

I had one little heart ring stamped with an M because the BF’s name starts with an M. Cute, right? It’s just a small daily reminder of how thankful I am that he’s in my life. Things have been incredibly rough the past few months. In addition to the stress of leaving my life behind, moving and starting a new job, my family is falling apart in more ways than one and he’s been there for me every step of the way. Thanks, M.

Remember when I bought those hot pink platform shoes from Aldo? Me too.

Don’t worry. They’re still awesome. They’re just too big on my non-fat foot and there was a lot of clomping around and the occasional tripping. Very graceful. Do you have one foot bigger than the other? I do. Geesh.

But then I found Airplus for Her Hug my Heels – a little cushy strip that glues inside the heel of your shoe and keeps your heel in your shoe, where it’s supposed to be. As opposed to falling out and losing your shoe on the way to the bathroom. Because that’s really ladylike in front of your new coworkers.

The Daily Polish: post-move tidy

Since I moved in with the BF a month ago (already!) I’ve been living like a second-class citizen as far as my polish is concerned. My collection was previously stashed in a set of plastic drawers, which broke during the move. Don’t worry, there was only one casualty. I’ll miss you, OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous. Sigh.

My polish collection has since been pushed around from room to room in a furry of unpacking my entire life, stashed in a couple of plastic bins, previously known as drawers. Behold the unsightliness.

Among the polish-obsessed, it is well know that the Ikea Helmer has the perfect drawer height to store any and all nail polish bottles. But those metal drawers are kind of slippy, so when my mom was visiting, she helped line all the drawers with a sticky drawer liner. And tah dah! Nothing slips around noisily and it’s not even close to being filled. You know what that means, obvs.

Goody two shoes: TOMS Eliana ballet flats

The other day on Twitter, I talked about how I don’t really understand why some show companies make imitation TOMS. I mean, do people buy the imitation ones? Maybe I’m naive, but I assumed people bought TOMS because they have become somewhat of a cultural icon and because of the One for One movement.

But maybe I have no idea what I’m talking about. It happens.

Either way, I was never really a fan of the regular TOMS but when they started making the ballet flats, I jumped on that train immediately. And I jumped even more for this awesome cobalt colour. Because if you can’t find a pair of pants in this colour, you should probably buy a pair of shoes, right?

I have a love/hate relationship with Essie Tarte Deco. I see it on other people and it’s such a lovely orange creamsicle shade. Then I put it on and it feels sort of wimpy.

Either way, I pimped it up recently with a pink side stripe. I liked it for about an hour and then it annoyed me.

Chop chop: before and after hair-do

So, I survived my first Toronto haircut.

I’ve been having my hair cut by the same person for almost 6 years. She has even become one of my bestest friends. So, imagine my horror when my mullet became no longer tolerable and Ingrid was 700 kilometres away. Gasp! I’ve been (sort of) trying to grow my hair out to something that looks like this.

Either way, you see what I’m getting at.

A co-worker (with lovely hair) suggest John Steinberg. It’s two blocks from where I work, so I gave it a shot. As if I know my ass from my elbow when it comes to getting your hair cut in Toronto.

Well, I sort of do. But my beauty blogger friends go to very expeezy stylists.

The after photo needs a bit of messing up and bad-assery. It’s very clean and swishy right now. I’m sure if I go outside and roll around on the sidewalk it will look more textured.

I had a hankering for a real pastel pink and can you believe there is not one in my collection? Me either.

Enter Nicole by OPI Up and Kim-ing Pink. I love it. I just can’t stop loving it. It will be part of the regular circulation for sure.

Oh, and I mixed up my signature dot design. What do you think?
