Fancy on a budget: two-finger ring.

Posted by on Apr 6, 2011 in Fancy on a budget, Jewelry | 0 comments

I know I keep talking about two finger rings. And I’ll probably keep talking about them until they aren’t cool anymore, before I actually find the perfect one.

Until that time comes, check out this dome shaped one. It looks sort of badass. It’s from a company called IZESX. And it’s only $15.

Fancy on a budget: nude shoes

Posted by on Mar 10, 2011 in Fancy on a budget | 5 comments

A few weeks ago, I told you how I was lusting after a pair of patent leather Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes that were way out of my budget. Being the savvy consumer that I am, I have been searching for a less expensive alternative ever since.

Nude. It’s all about the nude. And I won’t stop until I have the perfect pair.

Here are a couple I’m considering.

$79 from Steve Madden

$129 from Nine West

$70 from LOCALE

$59 from Globo

$44 from Globo

$80 from Aldo

La Dolce Vita $179 from Bleu Marine

Fancy on a budget: fur scarf from Rudsak

Posted by on Feb 24, 2011 in Fancy on a budget, Fashion & accessories | 0 comments

There are very few items that I enjoy in faux fur.

Maybe that makes me a snob. And the target for a PETA campaign. But the faux fur trim along the hood of a cheap winter coat makes me want to scream. Especially when it touches me on the metro.

I’ve already posted about my faux leopard print coat from Forever 21. I guess because it’s so blatantly faux fur, I can handle it. But anything that is pretending to be real fur, I have trouble with. Just be who you are, man.

I’ve been lusting over this Rudsak coat all season. It’s miles away from the wool one I already own. Really!  It is! This one is down, so it has the warmth factor, but with that GORgeous fur collar, it makes it a little bit fancy. It just wasn’t in the budget this year. Sigh.

So I’m totally in love with this grey scarf I acquired last weekend (also from Rudsak), while jaunting around downtown and freezing my ass off. It has a hood! And hand warmer pockets! Worn with my inexpensive coat from Zara, it takes my practical winter wear to whole other fancy level.

And I like fancy levels.

Fancy on a budget: perfect grey purse

Posted by on Feb 21, 2011 in Fancy on a budget | 0 comments

I have a thing for grey. I have grey walls in my home, grey bedding, two pairs of grey pants, a grey cat and more grey sweaters than I care to count.

I got so fed up with searching for the perfect grey purse, that I settled for a black leather Badgley Mishka bag with gold chain detail that I found at Winners.

I know, right? It was rough.

But look at this little number from LOCALE. I think I may have found what I was looking for. It’s equal parts tough and girly. Just like Lindsay. And it’s only $14.

Fancy on a budget: Sorels

Posted by on Feb 15, 2011 in Fancy on a budget | 0 comments

Last winter, I made the big mistake of buying inadequate winter boots. They were cheaper than the high end brands, and I thought they would do the trick.

Not so.

My feet were always cold and they weren’t waterproof.

So after a lot of hmming and hawing I decided to bite the bullet and invest in a good pair of Sorels. And I opted for the Suka model. They’re like Uggs, but waterproof. And less douchey.

They were on sale. So technically, they fit into the fancy on a budget category. But I’m not going to tell you what the sale price was. Sheesh.

The best part? They have a layer of cush under my foot. It’s like walking on a pillow top mattress. And they are so cozy and warm, sometimes I don’t even put my indoor shoes on when I get to the office.

Fancy on a budget: Leopard print coat

I’ve been eyeing all kinds of fur items for weeks. Coats, hats, mitts even boot covers.

They were adorable. For the record.

Then my mom called me.

“Have you heard of this Forever 21 store? It’s FABulous.”

“Yes, mom. I work across the street.”

“Well, they have just the GREATest faux fur coat. You MUST have it.”

So I did. I had it. And I bought her one too.
